Volunteer Profile: Bec Moriarty

Here at NEEN we always appreciate the support of our volunteers who donate their time and resources to help us out, and today we just wanted to say a big thank you to one of those volunteers – Bec Moriarty.

Bec  is in her early 20′s and lives in Brisbane, where she is studying her Bachelor of Economics at the University of Queensland. She has been volunteering with NEEN since July 2014 and works closely alongside Sandi Middleton, our Queensland Regional Leader. Sandi refers to Bec as her ‘Little Angel’, and she is certainly a huge help to us - assisting  in planning community gatherings, attending events and even the not-so-glamourous  (but still very important) job of data entry.

Bec really appreciates the opportunity to interact with the NEEN community, and her favourite part of the role is meeting the locals and energy experts at the learning community gatherings.  She also enjoys the chance to develop her knowledge about energy efficiency, and was surprised to discover the differences between the community organisations, and how these differences impacted their energy consumption.

In 2015, Bec plans to finish her degree, and then possibly undertake some further postgraduate study. When she completes her studies she would like to pursue a career in the electricity and energy sector, with a focus on environmental sustainability.

We are truly appreciative of Bec’s support and we look forward to working together for the duration of the  NEEN project.
